What Is A Standing Martingale? More restrictive than running martingales, standing martingales (when adjusted properly) keep your horse's head in the proper position without pressure until the head is out of range of position. Designed with two straps, the first strap circles the base of the horse's neck, while the second strap runs from the back of a caveson noseband, through a loop in the neck strap to a buckle attaching it to the girth.
